time for a very long bus journey...

We left Austin this morning after a fabulous four days. Too much happened to write it all but here are a few of our favourite moments from our Texas excursion -
- Barton Springs - The best swim we’ve had in ages!
- Oliver and some guys making such a nasty concoction of drink that they were out of it by five in the afternoon!
- Swimming in the lake at the back of the hostel only to find out in the daylight that it was pretty gross!
- Chicken Fried Chicken! The best taste Austin has to offer with the best name!!

- Making Pancakes that didn’t taste as good as Ihop’s!
- Birds that make the weirdest sounds we’ve ever heard. Oh and never shut up!

- Ollie getting everyone to smoke two massive cigars so that in the morning none of us could breath properly.
- Getting to see a real life police chase! A truck spinning down a hill, police cars zooming AND the pursuit went right past us! Just like the T.V shows!
- Asking a local woman who worked at the hostel to take us to a dance club and her taking us to a gay one. Which was fine until Ollie and a guy we were with decided to do the most provocative dancing ever, attracting ALOT of attention!
- Experiencing the busiest Halloween night of our lives. I have never seen so many great fancy dress costumes!

And overall just having a great time meeting loads of new people and laughing very much.
It’s been really interesting to chat with so many different types of people. To hear their stories and views on life. Even the guy who had seemed to do everything better than anyone else and who apparently had the answer to anything! For entertainment value he was priceless, although Ollie did tell me off for teasing apparently too much. But seriously those type of people are just asking for it!
Right now we’re at Dallas bus station waiting for our onward connection. We’re going to Flagstaff, Arizona to do a three day road trip around the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley and other natural wonders in that area. There are so many people around with string bags and tracksuit bottoms so I think it must be release day or something. The question no one wants to here the answer to today...’So what were you in for?’
We are looking to a few days with our own car not reliant on public transport or delayed buses. It should be really amazing to get on the road and see some really beautiful sights. I only hope we don’t get too lost!
